Retreat Overview Join us in Ghana for 8 days, 7 nights of service, meditation and yoga. Days will be filled with volunteering– giving our time and energy to experience and contribute to critical projects for SSEP, cultural and wilderness excursions, beach and village experiences and incredible West African food, dance and culture. We hope you’ll join us for this once in a lifetime experience.
Why A Yoga Service Retreat? Seva, the Sanskrit word for service, is a part of the tradition of karma yoga. There are many ways on the path to enlightenment, and learning to let go of the ego and give of yourself without any agenda or hope for personal gain is one. This once-in-a-lifetime experience will open your spirit and transcend cultural boundaries while supporting community based empowerment programs in Ghana.
What to Expect Guests will practice karma yoga and meditation as they participate in the service projects with the Sub Saharan Education Project. A typical day will include:
Yoga + Meditation Most days of the retreat will begin and end with a yoga and meditation practice. These practices will be all levels and will help us to integrate and process our experiences on this retreat.
Adventures Participants will enjoy excursions to explore important cultural landmarks and natural wonders. We will visit Shai Hills Monkey Sanctuary, Cape Coast Slave Castle and Kakume National Park and tropical rainforest just to name a few.
